“Monday, 25 July 2050 was another harsh day for the inhabitants of the Upper Rhine. Temperatures did not fall under 22°C at night and even 25°C in the heavily mineralised urban areas.”
Such forecasts are no science fiction: they are based on the scenarios of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for 2050 for our region.
The CCI Alsace Eurométropole and Météo France have partnered together to
produce two weather forecasts for 2050, one for the summer and one for the
winter, in order to provide information on the evolution of the region’s climate in
the decades to come.
