BECOMING RIVER at the ZKM Karlsruhe and in Gernsbach

The artistic research project BECOMING RIVER, run by the Media Ecology Laboratory at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences, successfully held its final exhibition from 10–14 June 2026.

Panel discussion at the ZKM

The event kicked off on 10 June at the ZKM Karlsruhe with a lively panel discussion on the topic of ‘Art and Science’, featuring Prof. Daniel Fetzner, Adrian Schwartz (Offenburg University of Applied Sciences), Prof. Florence Rudolph (INSA) and Prof. Rüdiger Glaser (University of Freiburg).

The panel was accompanied by the 8-channel video installation “HYDROSPHÄRE MURG” and a concert featuring the sonification of historical climate data. Visitors were invited to discuss alternative approaches to the relationship between humans and the environment.

Participatory exhibition in the Murg Valley

From 12 to 14 June, a participatory exhibition followed at the Gernsbach Town Hall, presenting the results of the artistic research from BECOMING RIVER.

The project team led by Prof. Daniel Fetzner put together an extensive programme: talks, performances, film screenings, book launches and concerts attracted an interested audience from the fields of art and science, ensuring an exciting conclusion to the project that brought the findings back to the Murg Valley.
